Engineer
GVEC is seeking an individual who will be responsible for effectively supervising the Engineering Department in accordance with Cooperative policy and procedures to insure adequate, efficient and economical power throughout the system. Is a member of the Management Team of the Cooperative and reports directly to the COO. This individual ensures the continued quality and safety of the constructed lines and facilities. Directs the maintenance, construction and design of the distribution lines, transmission lines, substations, communication and SCADA systems. Will be coordinating and directing the activities of the electronics area consisting of metering, relaying, radio, microwave, and control systems. Provides information and recommendations for the departments annual budget and preparing and submitting the goals and objectives for the upcoming year. Responsible for the development of long- and short-range planning associated with all major system distribution line, transmission line and substation improvements. Develops construction work plans, new delivery point applications and other planning related studies. Performs and/or supervises the development of all system substation and distribution sectionalizing studies. Is responsible for the preparation, or oversees the preparation by consultants, of annual load forecasts. Will be responsible for communicating to consumers and potential consumers concerning operating problems, rates and other technically related areas. Develops recommendations and assists in the negotiation of contracts with large industrial consumers. Provides technical support with voltage drop analysis, motor start analysis, fault current analysis and other technically related areas. Must have a Bachelors degree from four-year college or university in electrical engineering and ten years related experience in transmission distribution, underground and substations. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Communications Tech I
GVEC is seeking a communication tech to assist with the operation and support of GVEC and GVEC.nets local and wide area networks. Will be responsible for assisting in the overall planning and implementing of new network designs, products and services; the interpretation, troubleshooting, diagnoses, isolation and repair of equipment failures; and the building and maintaining of infrastructure supporting wired and wireless communications systems. Must have the ability to become and maintain a GVEC Certified Tower Climber. Prefer certified tower climber with experience in either installing and repairing electronic communications equipment or monitoring and providing quality assurance on broadband communications systems. Applications must be submitted to the HR Dept. in Gonzales in order to be considered. The position will be opened until filled.
